Unit 1 Test Review- Home Connections Pages 15-18 Answer Key
Tomorrow, Thursday, October 5 is our Unit 1 math test. Today, we reviewed for the test using our Home Connections book pages 15-18 and we worked on some of the problems in class. To further prepare for the test, students have been asked to complete the problems we circled in class for homework. If students would like more practice they may complete the other problems on the page. Below, is the answer key for all of the pages. Students should try to solve the assigned problems and then check their work for accuracy. This should give you an idea of those areas that need additional attention.
Finding Volume
When finding the volume of a rectangular prism, you must:
1. Label the three dimensions (length, width, and height) as shown below.
2. Multiply the length and width dimensions which gives you the area of the base.
3. Multiply the area of the base by the height of the prism to get the volume in cubic units.
Example:
4 x 3= 12 cm square
12 x 5= 60 cm cubed
The volume of the rectangular prism below is 60 cm cubed or cubic cm
Volume= (base) x height
or
Volume= (length x width) x height
